*** Linux is freely downloadable. You just need to see all the kernel's
available at http://www.kernel.org.

Lindows is a distribution (Linux + utilities + applications + GUI installer
+ + +...) for which the editor is charging, so that is why it is not for
free. Furthermore, I think there is an issue between Lindows and FSF
concerning the breach of the GNU license as Lindows seems to be a bit too
closed source.

I think Lindows is an intersting step forward into making Linux more
approachable, but I would not want anybody I know run it. One of Lindows'
solutions to make it "more simple" is to let a normal user run it as
root... I do not really see a point in using Lindows except its price, as a
much better result can be obtained by the couple RH/Mandrake and VMWare.

BTW, Jag is $166 (166euros) in France and "simplicity" is very relative. I
use UNIX/Linux to make money, Linux to make my coffee in the morning
(amongst other things ;-) so I can consider myself as being very
confortable with it. Well, I am a complete beginner in front of OS X 10.2.2!

I just started feeling OK with MacOS9, but OS X is another challange. I
cannot seem to understand how to make Samba network shares mount
automatically at login and where the hosts file is, used by OS X when in
multi-user mode?

So if somebody has the URL of the Internet equivalent of OS X for dummies,
do a good deed and help your fellow men by mailing it to me! ;-)

Cheers,
Zoran.
