I just picked up a DVD ram drive for my beige monster, so I guess I will
pick up a couple of DVDram disks to do the backup and try updating the
drivers. Luckily, I just got the 80g and moved up from a 9g so I don't have
too much stuff to back up -- yet.

Here is the beasts' specs (you see why I need the Acard)

Beige MT 533 G4
768m ram
Radeon 7000
Acard ATA 133 (not driving anything yet)
80G HD
orig 24x CD
Toshiba 8x8x8x24 CDRW/DVD
Apple DVDRam drive

Thanks for your help and I will update everyone whether or not you can just
update the driver.
