Well I did a semi-proper backup and tried to update the drivers with the
80G connected to the Acard ATA 133 and starting from a 9.1 CD.

Failure, but not catasrosphic.

Drive Set up said it updated the drivers, and when I restarted with the HD
connected to the Acard all I got was the dreaded blinking question mark. Oh
Well, at least the DVD Ram drive I just picked up reads faster than it
writes. Well I hook the drive back to the internal ATA and it starts up
fine, none the worse for wear. Time to do a full propper backup and go from
there.

At least someone tried to do this for the good of the list.
