I totally agree, and I have another idea that might help; User Groups. Yeah I know they aren't as good and reliable than 10 years ago however, if you can get to Apple's website or probably in the usergroups website (usergroups.org maybe?) you WILL find results. You may have to travel up to 2 hours or so to get to the meeting place but you WILL find someone close to you who can help. I've relied on user groups in the past, for shareware/freeware and even purchased software and got what I needed, and there are plenty of people (believe it or not) that are willing to help for free or for a few bucks. I could install RAM, basic OS, troubleshoot, install PCI & USB cards etc (do all of that) for about $40. I once had someone that was so thankful she gave me $100 years ago when I was a kid :) [Don't get carried away though! spend only what you must] and if it's possible deal with prices FIRST (discuss), and write down everything, have the person sign papers, in case of misunderstandings later on (I never had such though).
