I was not implying that it will not work, but if you want the best performance out out your computer, you should always put two fast access devices toghether (HD) and two slow access devices toghether (CDROM, CDRW, ZIP). You have to remember that the master and slave devices on an IDE cable are sharing the access to the mother board, so if you mix one slow device (CDROM) with a HD, your fast 7200 RPM HD is going to wait most of the time. This is of course true if you are accessing information on your CDROM / CDRW and your HD at the same time. But why bother? Just keep fast devices toghether.
