RE; it could be one of several things, most important, back-up everything immediately to be safe,then some of the earlier desktops had a small fan on the sound card,one in the power supply and then the main case,my had to be re oiled about every six months,they have no oil resovoire ,also the hard drive can click rather loud when the hardive becomes fragmented enough, also CD drives can make noise,all simple things ,but sound the same as major failures comeing.so hope for the simple,best wishes
