Hello Ray,
I went round and round on this issue, believing it was hopeless - colleague
Peter helped out. Finally, even though I was using an OEM Rage 128 ATI card,
I went ahead and ran one of ATI's retail installers which added a couple of
(apparently necessary) extensions, and - it ran!
Yes, I too used the hacked v2.7 software, the hack worked out just fine.
Of remark is that the machine I use it on has quite lower hardware specs
than recommended at the hack site:
Beige G3 desktop Rev B, 266mhz (OEM, not upgraded 3rd party), Apple 8x DVD
drive, Rage 128 w/ the decoder card (which, according to the hack site, is
meaningless, as the daughter card only kicks in on the 66mhz PCI slot on the
B+W G3s). The software plays fine w/out a hitch, and that on double-size
screen, and I can play around in the background as well. Impressive.
