There is a massive increase in speed with the pci cards as compared to drives running on the motherboard bus, usually about 4x. They are fairly cheap and, if I've got it straight, you don't need the ATA 133 cards on a Beige since they are faster than the bus can manage. You'll get the same results with an ATA 66 pci card and 7200 rpm drives. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) You can also hang 4 drives on such a card, and the 120 gig limit is gone. So is the need to install X in the first 8 gigs of a drive. (I have an ATA 133 with four drives on my Beige MT. Total storage: over 300 gigs. Reason: video.)
