Yes. I recently acquired a 160GB drive an decided to make it my master.
Partitioned it, then cloned some of the partitions from the previous
drive. The only problem I've encountered is the odd alias having lost
it's parent. Easily fixed.
Boot up, users settings and permissions seem unaffected.
