also note, this is largely because the apple extensions load first. If you rename the toast extension to load before these others, all is usually ok. I know I've seen an Apple KB document to that effect.

I have always been fond of Toast and prefer it to Apple's Disk Burner. I especially liked the fact that the updates for Toast Titanium for compatibility with OS 10.2 and 10.3 are free downloads. (getting rather tired of paying for various software updates for compatibility with each upward tick in the Mac OS)
For me, the easy way of getting the correct Extensions mix in OS 9 was to let Toast go ahead and disable the conflicting extensions during the Toast installation.
