Mail polish remover (the acetone kind) will destroy any plastic parts in
that printer or any other item made from any sort or kind of plastic,
plumbers use acetone to weld (glue) plastic water pipes to each other.
Just my 2 cts worth of advice.

Both of these sound like bad things to use to me, as well.

www.fixyourownprinter.com has a Epson printhead cleaning kit that may help. Details about success rates and more info is on their site.
