Suggestion - keep all the added hardware out until you get a successful
install. I used an Adaptec SCSI card and had regular problems with an
internal drive attached. Transferred all the data onto a (much larger)
EIDE and have been content. Haven't taken the time to fully troubleshoot
the SCSI issue. Card in still in there; drives are out. Very few problems.

Seriously. Strip down the beast; reformat the drive; install from proper
CDs.
FYI - I'm working from a G4 500 (AGP).

Get them to send you "specific" cds for your computer. This will likely
save you mauch heart-and-headache
