jack Untail last week I was the proud owner of a g3 mt 333Mhz power mac ...my only problem was the the 66 MHz bus. I had long ago max'ed out both the ROM and RAM and had found little improvement ...and there was always the 66 MHZ bus to deal with. Was I putting to much money and time into my 1999 mac? That was always going to have a limiting factor that I couldn't overcome! Was I begining to limit the kinds of sofware that I could get my hands on? Would I dare to expand into OS X with only a g3 at my side? These were some of the questions that I found spinning around in my mind.
So in late July I started my review and search for a replacement ...if i was going to move forware I was going for a 133 MHZ bus or bust trying! After much review and some help from you all ...again thanks. I started looking for a DA G4 533 MHz or maybe even a 733 MHz Power Mac the very first model set to offer a 133 MHz bus. After ten ...count them ...10 misses on e-bay one by less than $10.00 ... I was readly to give up! I was by this time willing to take a entry level 433 MHz model of the DA ...it was not a good time! Then I came across the following ..."G4 733 MHz" ...thanking it was a DA i open the file and WOW it was a "QuickSilver" G4 733 MHz ...loaded! The item was 6 days out from closing and no "Buy Know" option ...not even PayPal (that got worked out later) ...well it was a trying 6 days and the last 5 min's went very wild ...but I somehow managed to win it just $1.00 under my limit ...$599.00 including shipping! It rearch me last friday and I'm having a ball setting it up slowly! I haved a added a second 40 GB hard drive and will be mounting both OS 9.2 and OS X.3.5 I guess this was a little long winded for a reply ...but I feel that the time is upon us all to start moving in the direction of a 133 MHz Power Mac ... I know this new QS is going to serve me well for the 5 or so years ...maybe 2010. Good luck and hang in there and you too may just get yourself a DA or even a QS ...and besides OS X is a lot of fun if you go slow and real the missimg manual page by page.
