Yersinia, Yes, I'm sure it can be done, but will require tinkering. I once installed Yellow Dog on a 100 mHz Performa (it was kinda slow and choppy). Ubuntu was designed for New World (iMac or later) ROM machines. You will need bootX instead of Yaboot, a RAM disk with the kernel, a RAM disk with the installer, and OS 8 or 9 for booting. I've not tried this with Ubuntu, but check the forums <http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=95> I'll bet someone has already done it, and would be willing to help. You'll love it when it works! Good luck, Vic Mabus
"Hmmmm, well, the CDs aren't here yet, so I haven't gotten to try Ubuntu just yet. However, yes, when I do, I'll be sure to drop you and/or the List an email with the status report.
As to YDL, I couldn't find it, and was told that even if I did, it would take a whole week for me to download it on my 56K dialup connection, and then I'd be lucky if it came through without corruption. Since I can't do without a telephone for a week, and also since folks here were recommending Ubuntu -- and then I found out Ubuntu would send free CDs for the asking (though it would take a month to actually get them)...that's why I gave up on YDL and requested the Ubuntu CDs.
Well, like I said, I'll keep you posted. ~Yersinia." -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
