Debian is, I believe, not supported on Old World macs.  Gentoo would boot on 
my Beige G3 but I had no video.  Strange.  I got Ubuntu to boot but that was 
all.  I bought a Dual G4 and am going to put Gentoo on that.  Old World macs 
are not supported well enough for linux.  Big time hacking skills are needed 
and I just didn't have the time or the energy to keep plugging away.
