Dan, Photoshop has been running fine for me for a few days now, even
with heavy use, so I guess I fixed it. The way I fixed it was to create
a new User account and steal some fresh prefs out of its library to
replace the ones in mine. The prefs I replaced in my account were:
Adobe Photoshop CS2 Paths
Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings
com. adobe.mediabrowser.plist
and com.apple.finder.plist
The way I figured out which prefs to replace was this: I opened
Photoshop in a new user account, and then looked into that account's
library to see what prefs had changed at the exact time I opened
Photoshop. Those are the prefs that I dragged over into my own user
account and replaced. Then Photoshop worked and opened pictures again,
instead of just spinning its beachball forever until I force-quit it.
I suppose you could also just trash those prefs in your user account
and let Photoshop (and the finder) create new ones, and Photoshop might
work then too, but I know that replacing them from another account
works. At least it did for me, and I hope it does for you too.
