Huh!? I sure didn't find it that way! Extension conflicts can be a
major PITA, system crashes for no easily discernable reason, etc, etc.
OS X has been much more reliable for me. I've had much fewer problems
with it, and the few I've had weren't major issues. On the rare
occasions I've experienced a kernal panic, it was usually a hardware
problem, if not, a reboot got me going again. I've had uptimes
measuring in weeks. Couldn't say that about the "classic" Mac OS.
And speaking of uptime, this is the latest on my Sawtooth running
10.3.9;
G4:~ john$ uptime
3:01 up 64 days, 6:34, 2 users, load averages: 1.25 1.55 1.61
G4:~ john$
Even my old Win2k box wouldn't stay running that long without a
restart......unless it retarted itself! Multiple virus sweeps and much
troubleshooting never turned up any reason for the self-restarts. Funny
thing is, after I wiped the hd (again), and installed Mandrake Linux
instead, the problem never appeared again..........
