The OS is irrelevant, however the Intel CPU's have a significant  
performance advantage due to design than any of the PPC chips Apple  
ever used.

Another reason Apple went with Intel.

Also Intel's chips are no longer CISC systems, strictly speaking, they  
long ago adopted many features from RISC CPU's.
