There's not much in a x86 Mac that's "special". Most of it is off-the-shelf parts. The desktops are high-quality (lowest repair rate in the industry). The laptops are ... sigh (highest repair rate in the industry). >you are saying Apple did NOT design the motherboard architecture to >run OS X as well or better than any other hardware? Say it ain't so >Dan! What could they do to "fit" the system to the OS? Intel controls most of it now - they provide most of the chips and specify how everything interconnects etc. This isn't the old days, when Apple put a bunch of custom chips on the board. Think about it -- when you slap WIndoze on an x86 Mac, what doesn't work? Now look at the hackintosh projects, running OS X on generic PC hardware FASTER than on x86 Macs... - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus; South Jersey, USA, Earth --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
