If the GeForce 4MX comes up under Safe Boot and when starting up from the DVD then it sounds like you have an extensions conflict. The card works and its extension is present, otherwise you'd get no video with it on Safe Boot. If you want to keep the 4MX in this machine you may have to go as far as an Archive-and-Install, then start putting back your add-ons... you will eventually find the conflict. Sometimes when I swap video cards in my MDD I do need to press the CUDA button, especially if I am switching between a 4x card and an 8x card.
