Ok bottom post :-) At the end of the day we all have to retire our computers at some point. It is however, IMHO, laudable to keep them going as long as possible, and the best way to do this is acquire the software that you need to do the jobs you want now and just keep using them. If it worked adequately yesterday, then it will work adequately tomorrow. The problem is ourselves. We want to interact with the world outside. We want to go on the web and watch videos, and flash animation etc. Not that long ago I was happy to read a web page with plain text! So at some point we will all hit the spending button.
