Am I dreaming? ;-) > Yes there are easy-to-use distributions, but none of them have the > staggering level of integration and polish that OS X does. Drag and > drop, for example. I love Mac OS X. I love the way of thinking in it. The intuitivity. And it is, even though some Windows people say it's so different and they don't like it because it is. Linux on the other hand is easy to use too. Just not that much. There are many different applications around, that use all different program libraries that they are build upon. The KDE for example. It has all the drag and drop stuff that you seem to like so match. So, each KDE base application integrates all of it. Drag and drop everywhere. Very nice. But then, there are Gnome applications. The are based on GTK+. The look different, act different. One could use Gnome as the one desktop, but how about KDE applications then? And then there are QT applications, wxGTK applications, openmotif applications and so on. Sadly, there is no such thing as "OpenAqua". BUT - and that is the big difference to Mac OS X - all these applications are free of charge. I'm not telling anyone to stop using Mac OS X "because Linux is so great!" Why? "Because Linux is not so great at all." If you can afford it, if it is importaint to you, if you accept the license terms, if you accept being bound to a company's roadmap for the furture (at least to a certain degree) - go ahead. Mac OS X is surely great. I love it too. Cheers, Andreas [OT] Windows Seven looks like it was a great OS too. Finally some light breaking through the clouds for all those PC users out there. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
