Just wild speculation ... my first thought in a situation like this is
that the device is not getting enough power/current. But usually I've

Unplugging every other device you can is a good place to start. Trying
to use the device via a powered USB hub might be another.


No other devices connected except for earlier testing to validate the function of both USB ports.

Powered hub makes no difference.
