While I totally agree with you, I want you to consider the difference
between a piece of software and a piece of plastic.

I am hoping to keep the cost of making these dice down, but I want to
reiterate. I'm not in this to make a fortune, and I probably won't be
making much of a profit, either.
My goal is to get the dice to you guys, if enough of you guys are
interested for me to take the risks in putting down the money.

Aprone's color recognizer pulls info from a camera. Whatever hardware
you're describing may or may not be proprietary, and it's probably
being put out  by a company or group solely motivated by profit.
I wouldn't mind making a few bucks on the venture, but I'm not
interested in lining my pockets. I'm interested in lining up games.
Honestly, I'd be hard pressed to choose to pay for the dice, because
there are free programs out there, as I mensioned before.
That's why I'm trying to gauge interest in the dice project, before I
throw down the dough.
