Hi Dark, Unfortunately, governments are unlikely to push for accessibility standards as far as games gos. We are having just enough of a problem getting DVS here in the states. Especially, now that NFB has turned in to self-righteous blanks. They stabbed us in the back on accesible currency and on DVS. Anyway, even here in the USA where accessibility tends to move faster than other places in the worldit is a long up hill battle. The Publishing access laws like Public Law 9-22 which allows us to get any book in a specialised format came first, and took a while to get. Then, before Clinton left office he approved the web accessibility standards. He also laid the ground work for Section 508 which Bush signed into law shortly after taking office. Section508 stated at any software purchased by the government had to be accesible to a blind computer user. Soon after all these non-Windows operating systems such as Mac OS, Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris, etc rushed to get screen readers, TTS Engines, etc designed and ready to go so they don't lose sales, contracts, etc. That is why in 2007, six years after Section 508 was signed into law, you can download the cd of the latest Ubuntu Linux OS and install it using your sound card with speech. Then, have a reasonably accessible work environment. It needs some improvements, but Ubuntu out of all the Linux distributions have pushed hardest to get access going for the blind. However, I don't see any of that happening for vidio games. I can see things like the Linux OS and Mac OS getting kicked up the backside since companies, government offices, all use that software. They needed a real reason to get moving on accessibility, and not having accessibility in those areas cut us out of jobs we otherwise might have had. Games is totally an entertainment medium. It is usually at the bottom of the stack as far as most blind orgs are concerned. To get Congress to even look into such a bill to make games accessible would require time, money, and lobbiests. Unfortunately, this Congress is more concerned about illegal imigrant rights, something I personally find insane, than the rights of the people who voted them into office.
