Hi Nicol.

the original Acefire was a turn based fighting game, but not like Jim's
battleship. It worked in a similar way to turn based combats in some rpg
games or in gamebooks (such as those on the fighting fantasy project site),
with you and the computer each taking a turn to attack and cause damage.

In the original version, you had a gun with ten bullits. Each bullit took
one turn to load before you could fire I believe, and did I think somewhere
in the region of ten or 20 percent damage, but each bullit also had a chance
of missing as well (usually about half missed).

the computer had infinite bullits, but once you ran out of bullits, you had
to attack with the bullwhip which did a good deal less damage, but on the
pluss side you didn't need to load it and could attack each turn, i also
seem to remember the whip missing less, but that might just have been my
good fortune when i was trying the game out.

Appologies to damien if I've got any of these details wrong, it is a very
long time sinse I played Acefire.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.
