Richard, when selecting a Mine, the message about lumber is not supposed to be there, and will be removed in the next update. Thanks for spotting that for me.
Ore that is mined, goes in to your storehouse first. The C key, should show you your metal ore. If, however, a peasant picks up that ore, and begins walking it to the Forge, the ore won't show up when you press C, and it also won't show up in the Forge, yet.
