Yes, definitely keep graphics turned off if you can't see them anyway. I threw those together and never went back to clean up the code. You will take a performance hit unless you're running a very nice machine. It's very low on my to-do list, but eventually I'll probably rework the graphics code so that it's not such a resource hog.
