Roger. Duh, what was I thinking. Setup is a large
Oceanic tank of unknown gallonage 30X24X12 (lxwxh).
Lighting provided by 4 compact fluorescents of 60
watts each. Temp range of 75-90 during the day, 73 at
night. Misted twice daily, humidity in the tank
builds up nicely at night. Been with the male 1.5
years, shes approximately that old. I was running
under the "no uvb required if high lumens provided"
philosophy, but I think thats the culprit. Diet has
been FF, crix, and the Trex day gecko diet, mixed with
baby food, honey, and calcium. FF and crix dusted
with rep-cal and herptivite. She produced two
clutches, probably too close together.
My diagnosis: calcium deficiency due to insufficient
UVB and two clutches. Im going to hazard a guess on
this one, but some people have mentioned how
supplement sensitive klemmeri are. Im going to say
that although the high lumens obviates UVB for MOST
day geckos, if youve got a reproducing female
klemmeri, this may not be sufficient. An aggressive
and "interested" male doesnt help either. Thought I
had cooled them sufficiently....but I was wrong.
She is now getting some Neocalglucon and plenty of
uvb. Ive seen her perk up a bit, but still not eating
if I dont put the nectar right on her snout. If by
tomorrow I dont see her in hunting mode, Ill force a
wax worm or maybe FF larvae on friday. Other
suggestions? Maybe a mush of various bugs instead of
the wax worm and/or FF larvae? Ive got plenty of bugs
to choose from...termites, houseflies, WW, FF of two
species, crix, earthworms, etc...
Any help appreciated, shes thin.
