>Ok, all you guys and gals..what sort of container to you use to feed >your gerbs? The crocks/little bowls get tipped over and buried and >the "LIXIT" feeders are getting chewed at the opening. Help..I give. >I am only giving them a day's rations in the little crocks, but it >still ends up getting spilled. Thoughts from all you more experienced? >Thanks loads! > >Cindy Lixit feeders are a waste of $. Gerbils and Rats do short order on them. They will also chew up the VanEss crock dishes very fast. I give my gerbils their food on the bedding in the middle of the cage. Since I change the bedding weekly to every two weeks, this is acceptable. [my shredded recycled paper does not do well on odor control, so it must be changed fairly often to keep smell under control.] The water bottle goes on t he front or left short side of the aquarium; and they will usually use the nearer corner as a toilet, the farthest two corners as nesting (and switch corners on occasion)....and the dead middle works good for the dining table. It seems to give them something to do to rustle in the bedding to find the bits that sneak away and hide in the bedding. Deb Rebel's Rodent Ranch
