Hi Cindy and everyone else

I agree with Yael. If you use a ceramic dish propped up on something it will stay clean and they won't bury it. I made a little wooden cube from scrap wood. On top of the cube I place the food dish. They sit in the dish and eat and when they are bored they chew on the sides of the cube. I found that when I placed the dish on the bottom of the acquarium they would go to the bathroom in it and bury it wasting the food. An upside down flower pot is an excellent idea too it probably helps trim their nails when they climb it too. One of the cubes that I use in my boys tanks has circles cut through it and they use it as a nest box as well.   When it gets chewed up just throw it out and make another. I use this in all 3 of my tanks and it works without fail >try it.
