We gave up on dished a long time ago and just sprinkle the food directly into the bedding. The gerbils enjoy the foraging and the dry food doesn't go bad, even if in the cage for a while. Fresh food (apple, carrot, dandelion leaves..) we hang low into their cage on a clip tied to the lid, so we can remove the uneaten parts, without having to dig through all the bedding. -- Best regards, Susanne mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
