I admit I'm nowhere close to gerbil expert, but I would think they
probably wouldn't last long, unfortunately. Pet gerbils don't have much
experience with predators or finding their own food. I can't imagine
why your friend would have done that, you would think if she had so many
gerbils she would have known better, or at least given it some more
thought. Well, sadly there's nothing you can do about it now. Maybe the
more experienced list members could give you a better answer. Sorry.
