I think you will find if you use Teflon tape wrapped around a couple
of times for a packing, your leak will be gone. This can be bought at
most hardware and builders stores. It has amazing sealing and
lubricating properties and won't be bothered by gas. I have even
carefully wrapped it around an o-ring and it works well. The nut on the
outside that you tighten, may not need to be tightened right up, as it
may be squashing the o-ring too tight. I also found that I have to clean
and oil the primer shaft from time to time.
