Dennis-- sounds like we have the same primer.  Mine has O-rings and is
likewise hard to pull out, hard to push in, and leaks a little.  I
replaced the O-rings with some from the automotive store (FAA inspectors
close your eyes) and it did improve the leakage but it was still hard to
operate.  It is on my 'to do' list to have the mechanic fix it at annual
in May.  If he can.  I think it is just kind of inherent to that primer
once it wears some.  Once you pull it in and out a few times and get some
gas in it, it works pretty smoothly.  Just that first pull or two.  I
don't recall what size O-ring I used... I got 2 or 3 that were slightly
different and experimented until I had the best fit.
