I just happen to be a disabled vet and felt I should keep my anger out of the conversation. The price of freedom has been paid for by the blood of many American's of our past. The same reasoning was used by the Communists to explain to the people why they could not do so many things. It was for "their own safety". Arguing that "have it be the way it was on 9-11....Over...and Over....and Over?" is just simply not to the truth. Half of the terrorists would have checked out fine in background checks. None of the Terrorist had firearms with them. All had clean paperwork, passes and tickets. Nobody was violating the law. A Background check would have not caught them, nor a requirement to carry a picture Pilots ID, because they did board as passengers. All these actions the government is doing now is just to ensure this:"that I can feel a little more free". And exactly that happens, some people just FEEL a little more free. But they are not, they are also not safer. Nothing really useful has been done to stop or avoid terrorists actions by taking away BASIC rights of the public. Meanwhile we as the normal people are criminalized and become an easy prey for the authorities. If you think that ones the government agencies are having the ability to do legally background checks on pilots, that they would stop by finding no connections to militant groups then you are a fool. Picture this : When doing your BFR your PPL will be denied because you was ones in your youth arrested for possession of marihuana. You will never fly again. All because some people think" that I can feel a little more free."
