Larry. The leaders of the group might have problems coming into the Country because the INS already will do some background checks on them, but most of the guys have been harmless students which were recruited in the name of Allah I guess and no background check would detect this. To avoid being detected leaders of the group would just secretly recruit those followers which will pass a background check. Then let them fly the plane. Also. Training in flying small aircraft is not only given in the US. It just happened that, nobody suspecting anything, it was conveniently together. Get flight training in Florida and next month, without leaving the Country do the worst terrorist acts known so far. If someone plans something similar he might get his training in some other part in the world already. And if he has no violent background he will not be detected by any institution. How far will you go in giving up your rights? Would you stop driving your SUV? Would you stop watching TV? Would you stop flying? It can happen, if you don't stop the beginnings and ask for reasonable effective measures.
