If you put your hand on the wing walk, you kill a bit of lift & it's as
good
as a mild slip. If you and your passenger do it at the same time, you'll
really kill some altitude without picking up air speed.

Plus if your an old fart it won't make your bursitis in the shoulder,
and arthritis in your elbow hurt as much as holding your hand out
flat to the wind. <G>

I was taught that by the CFI who checked me out when I rented
an Ercoupe in 1955.
