I agree that the 20 oz. drinks that aren't full of ice are a good thing.
What the woman in the article was getting at was that the Grand Buffet
would make a better profit by far if they served their soda from a tap
and i sich a way that one soda didn't last a number of hours.

On the night in question there were only about a dozen people in the
restaurant. The same goes for the other nights she was in there. I
know, as I am friends with Karen and have joined her there as well as
spoken to her on the night she was asked to leave. Hardly taking up
space that could have make more money. During Karaoke, the buffet part
is closed and she was quite open about having been willing to buy
another soda. She has also been known to buy her friends drinks.

Since then, I have heard that there is a $5 minimum. I think a cover
during Karaoke would have been a better idea.

That's during the day, and I agree that $14 is good for an
all-you-can-eat place. But I do think their food was better in their
first few months. Especially their sushi, which has been crap the last
4 times I went there.

I wonder that, myself. The problem is, I do not speak any Chinese, or
else I would have certainly asked him in his native tongue for an
explanation. I think the language differences might have caused some of
the problems, but Mr. Wong has been a NH business owner for quite a
while now. I would think it would have manifested in other areas if it
were a really serious issue.

The problems as I see it were:
1. The food part shuts down as Karaoke begins. It is usually dry,
crusty, and stale by that time any way. There was no food to purchase.
2. The 20 oz. sodas last too long and do not carry a large enough profit
margin.
3. Unless one of the top two change, there is no profit margin for a
designated driver.

In all, I look at it as a problem with Mr. Wong's business model during
Karaoke which has come back to bite him an the rear and he did not
handle the lower profits during that time in a manner that is acceptable
in today's society. I think he was frustrated and took it out on the
wrong person - a customer.

Now back to the Linux discussion...
