But this doesn't help at runtime. In the long run, a French user
should be able to log in to a machine that has gnucash installed and
run it and see the French messages, while an English user should see
the English ones. This should be a run time issue, not a compile time
issue. Now we may want to support only installing a subset of the
locales on some machines (for space reasons), but it should be
possible to install a full setup and get the desired dynamic behavior.
This should be done by examining the LOCALE environment variable (is
that the right one) whether or not we actually use gettext.
Short term, though, the current solution is fine.
