Hi Paul, The "Action" and "Memo" is the key here. This is NOT double-line mode. In Double Line Mode you would see "Notes". You're not seeing that, so you're not actually in double-line mode.
The "Action" and "Memo" implies you're in "expanded split mode", either because you've turned on Auto-Split Ledger or Transaction Journal Modes. You can also get this by clicking the "Show Splits" button. Please check those settings. -derek On Thu, February 19, 2026 6:48 am, Paul Feakins via gnucash-user wrote: > Maf - thanks, but in "Edit -> Preferences -> Register Defaults", Double > Line is unchecked. > > Stan - my view is "View » Basic Ledger". > > Let me re-state the problem as simply as I can: > > Despite, "Edit -> Preferences -> Register Defaults", Double Line > unchecked, when I double-click an account, it opens in Double Line view > and I must go to "View > [uncheck] Double Line" before the extra lines > disappear and I can get more transactions on the screen. > > So it appears GnuCash is ignoring my Preferences. > > For further clarify, the extra line that appears shows placeholder text > of "Action" in the Ref column and "Memo" in the Customer column. > > > > > > > Kind regards, > > > Paul Feakins > > Managing Director > > > > > Antropy.co.uk <https://antropy.co.uk> > > Antropy Ltd, Crawley Business Centre, Stephenson Way, Crawley, RH10 1TN > <https://maps.app.goo.gl/QQ2iBRDE5mHuHA7G6> > > > > Antropy Ltd | Reg No: 06468795 | Registered in England & Wales > > > > > On 19/02/2026 05:00, Maf.
