GnuCash does list the name of the file you have open in the header of
the main window but it does not show the path to the file which might
be useful.

The main GnuCash file for a given set of books resides wherever you put
it or create it in your home directory. It is a good practice to create
this file in its own directory. If you haven't create the directory,
move the file into it then start GnuCash and use the File->Open to
navigate to it and open it.

User preferences and other configuration data are stored as described
in the wiki https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Configuration_Locations . The
section Diagrams of Configuration Locations has diagrams illustrating
where the files are located on Linux, Windows and macOS which are
easier to decode than the documentation information on that page. I
created them when I couldn't follow it easily many yeras ago.

That configuration data includes reports is generally not stored with a
specific book the reports may be used with so it pays to store them
with a book specific name unless they are generic. It also needs to be
copied as well as the data file if transferring to a new computer to
retain the same user configuration.
