Stephen,

For myself, I've known that the path to the file does show up when you hover over the filename in the list.  The problem is that doing that isn't obvious, especially to newer users.  As I suggested earlier, the full path should be "clearly and easily confirmed", and in a place where users would expect to find it -- not requiring a user-unfriendly "hover" motion in a drop down list.

I haven't found any such feature request in Bugzilla; but I think it's worthwhile to document such a request there.  It seems like it would be fairly straightforward to add; since obviously the info is being displayed via that hover motion already.  The only real added coding needed is to display the info in the Help-About box.

Anyway, even though it's low priority, it's documented now in Bugzilla as Bug 799773.  Maybe someday it can get added.

If I hover over the file in the most recent drop down list, then the full path name is shown in the bottom bar of the window.  The #1 fi le is the currently opened file.  #2 is the one most recently before, #3 & #4 likewise are ones previously worked.

May not be where you want to see it, but it is available.

David,

I agree that knowing the path to the data file is useful -- in fact, I'd say that's one of the most important things to know. That's why I think that showing the full path to that file ought to be clearly and easily confirmed to the user.  I can't think of a more logical place to do that than in the Help->About window.

GnuCash does list the name of the file you have open in the header of the main window but it does not show the path to the file which might be useful.
