No, you misunderstood what I meant by setting the CoA properly. You are asking for a report involvingĀ  ACCOUNT BALANCES where only some of the transactions in that account are included. IF you want that, it means the CoA was structured incorrectly for your purposes, that your one account should have been a parent account with two children, one for the transactions you wanted included and one for the restĀ  (or as many children as needed).

You are trying to mimic "tagging" where transactions can be heaped together in one account but later LOGICALLY segregated into several accounts. Effectively giving you multiple versions of the CoA.
