Bosco,
Goanet should be a mine relating to all things Goan.
We have 10,000 readers but only 50 writers.
Goanet is no where near its potential.
Here is the reason why.
People have, over the years, built reputations in the academic, professional
and cultural fields.
When these people read Goanet, one thing becomes very obvious. Every time a new
idea or contention
is introduced, someone will post a reply attacking the person instead of
contesting his ideas. This
happens repeatedly.
The people who simply do not have the time to reply to personal attacks will
not post here. We are losing a lot of the community wealth because of this.
I have no problems pointing out personal attacks. I have no problems getting
ten people to write to the Goanet Administration pointing out each personal
attacks.
The real value of moderation is when readers are assured that blatant personal
attacks are caught before they get posted here.

PS. Try enforcing strict moderation for a month and I can assure you that the
quality of posts will improve.
