The arguments made to oppose the stadium are feeble and need to be dismissed with the contempt they deserve.
1. We are not talking of something new. There always was a stadium at Campal. It was neglected and later demolished with an assurance that it would be rebuilt. Just because there are traffic jams elsewhere does not mean we need to neglect these places or use them for purposes other than what they were originally designed for. And what lack of transparency are you talking of? The GSIDC has prepared the plans. The CM has promised to give his nod and the Government will soon allocate a budget for it. Tenders will be publicly floated for its construction. If you want greater transparency, support the 'Lokpal' and the 'Lokayukta'. 2. Have you seen the plans? Why are you commenting without seeing them? Fatorda is a huge stadium for 35000+ capacity. How does it compare to a small stadium built for say 3500+ football lovers? 3. What environment cost are you talking? Have you seen the place? What environment value does it have as of now, can you please elaborate? Building a good stadium here with well designed landscaping will only add aesthetic and environmental value to the city and in no way damage the environment. 4. Just because some Goans do not follow Traffic Rules does not mean the rest must be denied the facilities they deserve. You are displaying a cynical mindset. We must not put a full stop on our city's development. We need the Government to build/ preserve and maintain our gardens, our beaches and our stadiums. These are the places which add glitter and glamour to our city. We need better vigilance from the citizens and a larger media role to get the authorities to govern better. We need to start working on that. In the light of the above, there is no reason why a stadium should not come up here. All arguments used to oppose the stadium are hollow. We have waited long enough. The stadium must be built soon. regards, Sandeep -------------------------------------- > Message: 1 > Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2011 21:48:14 -0700 (PDT) > From: George Pinto <[email protected]> > To: " estb. 1994!Goa's premiere mailing list" > <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [Goanet] Daily Traffic Jams near Sharada Mandir School, > Miramar > Message-ID: > <[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > > The arguments made to defend building a Campal stadium football stadium do > not currently meet several tests: > > 1.
