hmm -- IIUC, you can set up gmail to be used with an external client
(i.e. Evolution), so I suppose I could set it up to send from a gmail
account that way -- I guess I'll look into that.

One other thought -- if you can write a custom picasa-hook-email
script, then I should be able to write one that send email via
gmail...I assume that's a published API, or at least they do seem to
allow you to use their SMTP server.

This sure would be easier if PIcassa was open-source (sigh).

I'm not sure what version I was running on Windows, but sending via
gmail has always worked fine there.
