I'm using GWT Material <https://github.com/GwtMaterialDesign/gwt-material> in two commercial projects and I'm quite satisfied with it. It's not really "desktop like" but more focused on responsive views - great for mobile and desktop.
In my opinion, nowadays, you should really consider starting a project that works good for mobile devices from day 1 (mobile-first).
