Well said Majken! Mafia are families (with good and less good implications). To be honest, the name kept me away from this thread (and the fact that I didn't understand the aim of this proposal from the beginning).

My suggestion is however, to try to avoid the use of "emotional" terms (eg. family).

As far I can see the proposal came after the conversation about @mozilla.org aliases.

IMHO, if Mozilla really wants to give away aliases to contributors who feel aligned with values/mission, then just offer them. Yes, this means taking risks and responsibility as an organization. And it's probably a deeper conversation with branding/organizational development.

Regarding infrastructure and costs, there are already plenty of external services at a reasonable price (so, this is not a main problem).

I'm sure that Mozilla has already paid staff with enough professional experience to present a view on this, come up with advantages and disadvantages, eventually solutions that could lead to an informed decision-making.

This proposal (as far as I could read between lines) looks like adding yet another layer of bureaucracy, not building trust or exploring new ways to build relationships and work in open.

I also want to note, you have just used a synonym for mafia. "The Family"
_means_ the mafia. "Family Responsibility" means nothing to me unless I
know the relation between the words.
