I read Ms Baker's (not Ms. Mitchell btw) entire post and it puts things in further context. Her tone comes across as stridently supportive of LGBT and other social issues (indeed she says "radical" herself) and very weak sauce in her support for Mr. Eich. In fact she spends a lot of time emphasizing that. She states Mozilla's policies of "inclusiveness" to such an extent that it sounds like she is making apologies on behalf of Mozilla for even allowing Eich to become CEO. To me that's a virtual greenlight for a public lynching. I mean seriously, if she holds those beliefs SO STRONGLY AND PUBLICALLY, it appears they trump Mr. Eich's own beliefs. Again, it comes across to me as if she held her nose while voting for Mr. Eich to be CEO. Then later, her statement on the situation was sort of an "oh well" and again, not worded in strong support of Mr. Eich. She could have easily said "we deplore the actions of a few outside groups with an agenda to undo the great work Mr. Eich has done and would have done." Sadly, she said nothing of the sort. FWIW, I am a public relations practitioner and am pretty good at putting myself in the shoes of the average person when it comes to how words will be received and perceived. --jl _______________________________________________ governance mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/governance
